Officials from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday to conduct a workshop for seafarers who may face the risk of piracy. The officials have come up with Do’s and Don’ts for the seafarers to avert any such attack in the first place and, if attacked, how to tackle the situation.
“Our main mission is to coordinate with the shipping community and give guidance for the implementation of the best management practices for the seafarers,” said commander Stein Hagalid, a branch head of the Nato Shipping Centre.
According to another official, Nato has conducted such workshops earlier in London, Singapore, Manila, Hong Kong and New Delhi.

Uttarakhand assembly passes Lokayukta Bill
Dehra Dun, Nov. 1: The Uttarakhand Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill to set up a Lokayukta, which brings in its net the post of the chief minister, ministers, MLAs and government servants, including IAS and IPS officers, with a provision of life imprisonment or more severe punishment.
After a marathon discussion, the House passed the Uttararakhand Lokayukta Bill, 2011, unanimously.
Chief minister B.C. Khanduri said the bill will go a long way in the fight against corruption.
Soon after being sworn in on September 11, Mr Khanduri had vowed to set up the strong Lokayukta within two months.
