Woman brands five-year-old daughter with nails in Indore

A woman allegedly branded her five-year-old daughter with hot nails and kept her hungry as a form of punishment, police said on Tuesday.

Urmila (40) branded her daughter Sanjana, besides beating her on numerous occasions, they said adding, the girl was also kept hungry by her mother. The victim has been sent to a remand home, they said.

According to police, Sanjana's grandfather claimed such behaviour from Urmila had mentally affected the girl.

A case has been registered against Urmila under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Indian Penal Code, police said.
