The Andhra Pradesh state government on Saturday warned private schools of 'de-recognition' if they failed to function normally from Monday.
The government directed the department of School Education to initiate action against private schools that remained closed on and after Monday in support of the Sakala Janula Samme.
Action would be taken as per the provisions incorporated in GO Ms No. 1, under which the government has the power to derecognise private schools.as per GO Ms No. 1, under which the government has the power to derecognise private schools.
The government was forced to act against private schools as it came under pressure from various parents’ associations who are demanding that the schools be reopened immediately in the interest of students.
Parents met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy recently demanding that the government take steps to ensure reopening of schools by October 16. They had warned that they would otherwise intensify their agitation over the inaction of the government.
The CM had told the parents that the government would wait till October 16 and would then initiate action against schools that failed to reopen.
The Commissionerate of School Education will issue a circular to all private schools immediately warning them of de-recognition if they continued to remain closed after October 16.
