A CPI(M) MLA breaking down before the media and a woman watch and ward staff who was allegedly assaulted by him lying in a local hospital summed up the high drama that unfolded in Kerala state capital following a ruckus in the Assembly here on Friday.
The CPI(M) legislator, Mr. T.V. Rajesh, broke down immediately after Government Chief Whip P.C. George accused the CPI(M) legislators of assaulting the woman staff member Rajanikumari while surging towards Speaker’s chair.
George who witnessed the screening of the footage arranged by the Speaker alleged that the visuals clearly revealed that the woman staff member had been pushed and shoved inside the House.
He also accused the CPI(M) MLAs of breaking the protective wall erected by watch and ward staff. This is the first time in the history of Kerala Assembly that the watch and ward staff had been roughed up and a woman staff pushed and shoved.
However, Rajesh who broke down before the media charged the ruling party members with levelling false allegations while James Mathew, another MLA, swore that he would resign if the charges were proved.
The recorded footage clearly revealed three things; there was clear footage of Rajanikumari lying on the floor after being pushed by the Opposition legislators, the two CPI(M) MLAs were seen surging towards the Speaker’s Chair and the CPI(M) MLA K K Lathika who had accused the watch and ward staff of roughing her up, was nowhere near the watch and ward staff at the time of commotion.
