Uff….what is it with B’town and its superstitions? Every star worth his salt believes a particular slot in the box office release calendar is rightfully theirs, just because a film released at that time has previously been a success. And so it is with Emraan Hashmi.
Hashmi boy may certainly not be in the big leagues a la Shah Rukh, Aamir or Salman Khan or even Akshay Kumar, but he is slowly and steadily climbing his way into the top 10, and wants all the trappings that come along with the rise to stardom. And so it is that when it comes to the release of his upcoming film Jannat 2, Emraan is insisting on a date that coincides with the start of IPL season. The reason: the same release slot worked well for the original Jannat.
We had reported earlier that Emraan was daring to where few others had, with an IPL release for Jannat. But brushing off the suggestion that some master strategy is at work, Emraan’s spokesperson says, “It’s pure superstition actually. Emraan is sure that having as IPL release date will work for Jannat 2. He has consulted his mentor Mahesh Bhatt about this as well and they are in agreement.”
