Vettel grabs 10th pole of season, equals record
Abu Dhabi, Nov. 13: German Sebastian Vettel grinned with pleasure on Saturday after claiming his 10th pole of the season, a feat that put him alongside Formula One greats like four-times champion Frenchman Alain Prost and three-times champion Brazilian Ayrton Senna in the record books.
But he was not tempted to talk about his own drivers’ title bid — or that of his Red Bull teammate Australian Mark Webber — when the lights go out for Sunday’s title-deciding season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Instead, he said, he will go out to win the race and then see what happens.
The 23-year-old tyro said: “I will feel very happy, but it depends who else wins (the title),” the Vettel. “It is not dependent on me, all I can do is maximise my performance. Pressure-wise, we are not leading the championship so maybe there is more pressure on Alonso and Mark.”
