A unique opportunity
To further strengthen the impressive Mahindra NBA Challenge Basketball League, the Generation Adidas Players Programme, led by NBA India senior director Troy Justice, will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi on Saturday.
Kochi will be the second city to host the programme after the launching phase in Delhi. As part of the event, 40 talented boys and girls in the U-13 and U-16 categories will be selected for specialised training.
Eight players will be selected from the training sessions and will be put through specialising clinics for a year.
The State basketball association said the event will be held in each subsequent city with the goal of identifying and nurturing talents across the country.
“NBA and Adidas share a long-term commitment to grow basketball globally and are encouraged by the tremendous amount of untapped potential we see in India,” said Akash Jain, senior director for business development and partnerships, NBA India.
The programme will be held from 1.30 to 3 pm and a second such event will be held toward the end of the season.
Clinics will be conducted in a combined style wherein the participants will be put through various physical and basketball tests. The organisers said monthly monitoring of the players will be done.
