Trial run for dedicated Commonwealth Games lane conducted
The first trial run for a dedicated Commonwealth Games lane, that will exclusively cater to athletes and delegations during the sporting event, was conducted on Sunday on a small stretch of the Lodhi Road.
The trial was carried out between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm during which time people had to keep off the exclusive Games lane and were restricted to the other two lanes, a senior police official said.
The stretch on which the trial was carried out as well as all such dedicated sections will exclusively cater to athletes and delegates during the Commonwealth Games.
The unauthorised vehicles entering the over 200-km lane on the right side of major roads will be prosecuted and fines imposed on them.
To begin with the trial is being conducted on a lean traffic day and that too on a small stretch of the Games-dedicated lane.
The selected routes have been marked to set them aside.
The dedicated lines have been set up between the Airport and the Games village and between the Village and various competition venues.
