Talukdar crashes out as archers continued to disappoint
Indian archers continued to misfire in the Olympics as Jayanta Talukdar on Tuesday crashed out in the opening round of the men's individual recurve event at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground here.
Talukdar was no match for his American rival Jacob Wukie, who easily pocketed the encounter 6-0.
In individual events, which is decided on best of five sets (three arrows each), one who wins a set irrespective of the margin gets two points.
Talukdar started poorly with a score of 22 (8,5 and 9) in the first set while Wukie hit 27 (8,10 and 9).
Talukdar fought back in the second set but Wukie was in imperious form as he hit three straight 10s, the maximum possible score.
Talukdar picked up and hit his first 10 in the third set and returned with a score of 28 but Wukie was relentless as he hit two more 10s and a nine to pocket the set and the contest with a score of 29.
