P.T. Usha hopes India wins more medals at London Olympics
Iconic athlete P.T. Usha is hoping that India will be able to secure more medals at the London Olympic Games.
She voiced these views in Hyderabad during the four-day 52nd National Inter-State Senior Athletic Championship that is being staged at the Gachi Bowli Stadium.
Known as the 'Payyoli Express', sprint queen Usha hailed ace shuttler Saina Nehwal for her recent victories in the Thailand and Indonesia Opens.
"Now, our Saina (Nehwal) is doing very well, she has settled, she played very good in Malaysian (sic) Open you know. The Olympics is not like that; I think she is very strong mentally and she has prepared very well. And shooters also prepared very well and also boxers also prepared very well. At least last Olympic time we won three medals, maybe this year maybe more medals," said Usha.
Indian sportspersons have lately placed the country's name on the global map in a better slot of ranking.
Ahead of the 2012 London Olympics, India is riding high on the success of ace tennis duo Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi who clinched the mixed doubles title at the French Open recently, followed by champion shuttler Saina Nehwal's twin victory at the Thailand and Malaysian Open few days back.
Also, the country's is desperately seeking a gold in boxing from five-time world champion Mary Kom who is already being seen as India's best-shot Olympics.
