More funds sanctioned for Mary’s academy

The sports ministry on Thursday approved additional funds for the construction of an outdoor hall in the Imphal-based Regional Boxing Foundation, run by London Olympics bronze medallist pugilist M.C. Mary Kom.
The executive committee of the National Sports Development Fund also decided that the project, the cost of which was not specified by the ministry, would be monitored regularly by the Regional Centre of SAI in Imphal.
Meanwhile, the ministry also directed SAI to identify 50 athletes in various disciplines for customised training under the NSDF 50 scheme to improve performance in the Olympic Games.
