Kidnapped Venezuelan baseball player rescued
Venezuelan baseball player Wilson Ramos, who was kidnapped last week, has been found alive in a mountainous region, a minister has announced.
Ramos was found in an isolated area in Carabobo state, Communications Minister Andres Izarra wrote on his Twitter account.
"Baseball player Ramos found alive by security forces in mountainous Montalban region, Carabobo," Izarra wrote.
The 24-year-old Washington Nationals player was kidnapped last week from his mother's home in Valencia, capital of Carabobo state. He was attacked by several armed men and forced into an SUV, authorities said.
"We wish to announce with great happiness, with great joy, the rescue of this fellow Venezuelan, ballplayer Wilson Ramos," Interior Minister Tareck el Aissami told state TV channel Venezolano de Television.
Three people have been arrested in this connection. One of them is of Colombian nationality.
