Kaizeen, Sharon CC register victories

Sonal D’Silva’s 56 run knock and a five-wicket haul by Ajithkumar enabled Sharon CC to grab a nail-biting win over Perumbavoor CC by one wicket in the KTR Varma Memorial Cricket Tournament organised by the Ernakulam District Cricket Association at the BPCL KR grounds in Ambalamugal.
Lethal bowling by Ajithkumar 5/34 and Mohammed Shan 3/39 restricted Perumbavoor CC to a total of 136 runs in 29 overs. Only Arun Raj shone for the Perumbavoor side scoring 43 runs.
However, the target was not too easy for Sharon CC, as they lost nine wickets in pursuit of a victory with the help of the half century slammed by Sonal D’Silva.
In the second match, Kaaizeen CC registered a 69-run win over Vyttila CC. Riding on the half century scored by Nivin Parry (57), Kaaizeen YCC scored 156 runs at the expense of six wickets while batting first.
In reply Rijil Venugopal scalped fourwickets for 12 runs to bowl out the Vytilla team for a just 87 in 20 overs. Kaizeen YCC will lock horn with Sharon CC in a 45 over match in the second phase of the tournament.

Cricket Clinic
Former Indian fast Bowler Aby Kuruvilla will give training tips to fast bowlers and coaches at Mannanam State Cricket Academy in Kottayam. The coaching camp started on August 21 and will end on 26. About 30 players will participate in the camp. The Training camp is held at St.Ephrem’s Cricket Stadium in Mannanam.
