Court rejects PIL on graft charges against Kalmadi
The Delhi high court on Wednesday dismissed a petition alleging corruption charges against Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chairman Suresh Kalmadi and members of Hockey India (HI).
The public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by lawyer Ajay Agarwal, who demanded an inquiry by the CBI into the matter.
A division bench headed by chief justice Dipak Misra dismissed the PIL after the Central government said that it had already de-recognised HI. The sports ministry had on August 6 withdrawn provisional recognition of HI for not holding election as per government guidelines.
