Chaos rules as IBL shuts door on media

The role of a media manager at tournaments is to provide timely updates, information and ensure that adequate space is provided to journalists to file their reports apart from working as a felicitator between players and reporters.

On Monday, sports reporters here were in for a shock when the media manager of the Indian Badminton League here, announced that “media were not invited to cover the tournament”.
Mismanagement, confusion and chaos prevailed for much of the day as scores of accredited media waited endlessly at the gates of the NSCI.
While organisers seemed to be in the dark, the facility inside the stadium was equally shambolic.
The press box was set up just two hours before the start and that too, at the far end of the stadium. Members of the electronic media were not allowed to shoot either inside or outside the stadium.
