CAL, St Andrews in final

CAL Public School will take on St Andrews School in the final of the the inaugural edition of the Louis Emanuel Premier League on Sunday. In the semifinal, CAL defeated Gowtham Model School while St Andrews beat Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, to book their places in the summit clash.

Taking first strike, Gowtham Model School scored 153 for the loss of five wickets in their stipulated 20 overs as Rohit Bharadwaj got into the groove, hitting four boundaries and a massive six en route to his 56-run knock. Sandeep Goud, who scored 30 runs, gave Rohit good support at the other end. For CAL, Pranith Reddy and Omer scalped two wickets each.

In reply, CAL, thanks to their team effort, surpassed the total in the very last ball of their stipulated 20 overs. For the winners, Chaitanya top-scored with 37 runs. Pranith Reddy (27) and Melvin John (25) also made noteworthy contributions. In the second semifinal, Bhagath Varma scored an unbeaten 55 as St Andrews successfully chased down the target of 115 set by HPS in just 16.1 overs without the loss of any wicket.

Earlier, HPS could manage only 114 runs as their batsmen found it hard to negotiate St Andrews’ clever bowling tactics. For St Andrews, Amrith Yadav and Vidhath scalped two wickets each. Yudish top-scored for HPS with 43, which included three hits to the boundary.
