Asra rules roost at State swimming

City girl Asra Anwar proved her superior skills as she clinched the first position in both women’s 100m and 50m breaststroke at the Senior State inter-district swimming competitions held at the Warangal District Sports Authority swimming pool recently.

In the 100m breaststroke, Asra came first, clocking 1:40.08 seconds. Warangal’s R. Geetha Vani finished second (2:48.51). Asra won the 50m breaststroke with a timing of 0:40.25 seconds.

City’s V. Snehit Reddy won the men’s 200m butterfly, clocking 3:24.15 seconds. Snehit was far ahead of the second placed V. Pramod Shekar of Visakhapatnam, who finished with a timing of 4:14.23 seconds. Warangal’s G. Nikhil came third.

B. Girendra of Rajahmundry and J.S. Yuvika of Medak clinched the first position in the 100m freestyle men’s and women’s category respectively.

Girendra won the men’s event with a timing of 1 minute 01 seconds, leaving O. Phani Kumar (KRI) and D. Ravi Teja (KRM) into the second and third position. Yuvika won the women’s event with a timing of 1:18.61 seconds. Rajahmundry’s S. Neharika and Warangal’s Geeta Vani finished second and fourth respectively. In the women’s 50m butterfly, Yuvika once again showed her superior skills to finish first with a timing of 1:35.59 seconds.
