Was Dahl a Bond-like spy during WWII?
A new biography of British novelist Roald Dahl has revealed that the children’s author led an extraordinary life in the US during the Second World War as a philandering James Bond-style spy with a “stable” of women.
Dahl slept with countless high society women while gathering intelligence in America. The author’s extraordinary life as a young, handsome and dashing RAF officer in the early 1940s is detailed in a new book by Donald Sturrock, Storyteller: The Life of Roald Dahl.
Antoinette Haskell, a wealthy friend of Dahl’s who looked up to him as a brother even though he was “drop dead gorgeous”, said the author had a “whole stable” of women to wait on his every need. “He was very arrogant with his women, but he got away with it. The uniform didn’t hurt one bit — and he was an ace [pilot]. I think he slept with everybody on the east and west coasts that had more than $50,000 a year,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

Robbie ties knot with Ayda Field
Los Angeles: Pop star Robbie Williams and actress Ayda Field are now a married couple. The pair, who met in 2006, exchanged vows on Saturday in front of about 75 friends and family members at his Beverly Hills home, reported People magazine.
“The ceremony was very beautiful and romantic,” said a source. The 31-year-old bride wore a white dress with her hair pinned up while Williams, 36, wore a black tuxedo.
“At last, Rob is happy. That’s what you want for your kids and this is the happiest I’ve seen him. Ayda is so beautiful and so delightful and so lovely and just so right for him. They are brilliant together,” said the singer’s father Pete Conway.
After the 30-minute ceremony, guests enjoyed a sunset cocktail reception with champagne and gourmet hors d’oeuvre. The couple will continue their celebration with sit-down dinner and dancing. —PTI
