‘Underwood top-earning American Idol’
Singer Carrie Underwood, who won season four of American Idol in 2008, has been declared the top-earning ex-American Idol contestant by Forbes. Since she won the show, the 28-year-old has released two full albums, become a Broadway star through In The Heights and started her own clothing line.
She has apparently earned over $20 million in the last year alone, which is almost as much the 5 next-most successful Idol alumni combined, who are, Chris Daughtry ($6 million), Adam Lambert ($6 million), Fantasia Barrino ($4 million), Jordin Sparks ($3 million) and Kelly Clarkson ($2.5 million).

Meester takes mom to court
Los Angeles: Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has filed a lawsuit against her mother Constance, alleging that she misused the money she sent for her younger brother’s medical problems. The 25-year-old actress who plays Blair Waldorf in the TV series, has accused her mother of using the money for plastic surgery and other personal expenses, including Botox and hair extensions, reported Aceshowbiz.
Leighton also said that Constance threatened to file a $3 million lawsuit against her if she refused her mother a monthly allowance of $10,000 for life. Her mother claims they had a verbal contract requiring her to pay so. —PTI
However, the actress insisted in her suit that the claim of the contract is untrue and has asked a judge to rule that there is no such contract between her and her mother.
On February 11, Meester’s mother had been slapped with a restraining order after a woman named Laurel Wigg accused her of making death threats.
In the legal documents filed at Los Angeles Superior Court, Wigg said that Constance told her she would “hunt and kill” her and her son.

Ifans held for assault, released
Los Angeles: Actor Rhys Ifans, who is playing the villain in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, was arrested after he pushed a female security guard during the Comic Con event, but was later released.
The actor who plays Dr Curt Connors-The Lizard in the movie, assaulted the female guard after one of his team members was not allowed inside the hall where the event was taking place, reported US magazine. “He was aggressive and belligerent. He was berating everyone from the security staff to the United States of America. He was cited and released, which is a non-custodial misdemeanour arrest,” said Andra Brown of the San Diego police department.
