Swift best paid under-30 celeb

Singer Taylor Swift topped Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid celebrity under 30 after earning $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012. The 22-year-old earned through her three albums — Taylor Swift, Fearless and Speak Now, all going platinum at least four times.
Her performances brought in an average of $1 million per night and her endorsement work for products such as CoverGirl makeup have helped cement her place at the top of the list, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Justin Bieber was narrowly beaten into second place after earning $55 million. Rihanna was in third place with $53 million, with $52 million earning Lady Gaga in the fourth slot.
Katy Perry was on fifth number with $45 million earning, and British singing sensation Adele was in sixth with $35 million.
Twilight star Kristen Stewart was in seventh spot with $34.5 million ahead of her cast mates Taylor Lautner and boyfriend Robert Pattinson, who were tied in ninth after both pulling in $26.5 million. Rapper Lil Wayne was sandwiched in between the trio at the eighth place with $27 million.

System to save astronauts from solar storms?
Washington: Scientists have claimed to have developed a system which can warn astronauts and air crew about radiation from solar storms nearly three hours in advance, giving them enough time to take protective action.
“If you’re in a plane flying over the poles, there is an increased radiation exposure comparable to having an extra chest x-ray you weren’t planning on,” says John Bieber, professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Delaware Bartol Research Institute.
“However, if you’re an astronaut on the way to the Moon or Mars, it’s a big problem. It could kill you,” adds Bieber, who supervised the project. — PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
