SRK joins Bachchans for Raavan premiere in UK
THE BACHCHAN clan was greeted by thousands of hysterically shrieking fans at the world premiere of Mani Ratnam’s latest film Raavan, which stars Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, in London on Wednesday evening.
The filmstars at the first Indian film premiere at BFI were greeted by thousands of South Asian fans, who had even climbed on rooftops of the surrounding buildings to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.
Dressed in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee sari and wearing huge diamonds, Aishwarya kept close to Abhishek at the red carpet and even answered questions together. “We were all actors on the sets, but it was wonderful to have each other to go back home to,” she said when asked about the experience of working with her husband once again after Guru, which too was directed by Mani Ratnam. The film, which will be released worldwide on Friday, is the first Indian film to be released simultaneously in Hindi Tamil and Telugu versions. It was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil.
The film will be released in approximately 2,200 screens worldwide on Friday: 1,250 screens in India and 325 overseas, including countries like Britain, the United States and Pakistan.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan also attended the premiere at BFI Southbank along with his wife Gauri and daughter. He was greeted by the Bachchans at the red carpet and he joked before going in to watch the film that he was there to watch “Abhishek in a lungi.”
