Sir Sean: I’m done with acting
After an acting career spanning more than six decades, veteran star Sean Connery insists he is done with the world of showbiz and will never act in films again.
The Scottish actor, most famous for portraying British secret agent James Bond between 1962 and 1983, celebrates his 80th birthday on Wednesday and admits that it is u
nlikely to see him grace the silver screen again, Daily Record reported. “I don’t think I’ll ever act again. I have so many wonderful memories but those days are over,” Connery said. “I’ve done a voice over for an 85-minute animated film called Sir Billi, which I enjoyed and it will be exciting to see that project finished. Shirley Bassey sings the theme and Ruby Wax was also involved,” he said. —PTI

Aspirin may control BP in pregnancy

Britain’s public health watchdog on Wednesday indicated that a small amount of aspirin a day could help pregnant women with hypertension, or high blood pressure, to keep the condition at bay.
Hypertension is a leading cause of maternal death in the UK. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on Wednesday issued new guidelines to treat hypertension during pregnancy. “Hypertension in pregnancy includes the condition pre-eclampsia and is more common in first-time pregnancies. It can also have serious health implications — babies are more likely to be premature, stillborn or smaller than average and mothers are at an increased risk of developing high blood pressure later in life,” the watchdog said.
The guideline also advised mothers-to-be that restricting their salt intake and taking dietary supplements such as magnesium or antioxidants (vitamins C and E) will not help prevent hypertension during pregnancy.
