Singer Lily Allen suffers miscarriage
British singer Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage, her spokesman said on Monday.
Allen, whose hits include Smile and The Fear, is thought to have been around six months pregnant and had often spoken of her desire to be a mother.
The 25-year-old’s spokesman said: “It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper (her boyfriend) have lost their baby. The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made.”
Allen suffered a previous miscarriage in 2008 while dating Ed Simons of electronic music duo the Chemical Brothers.
She fell pregnant again earlier this year by Cooper, a builder, and at the time said she was “absolutely delighted” at the news

Elton John announces retirement
London: Singing superstar Elton John has announced that he will never put out a single again as he cannot compete with young talent like Lady Gaga.
The man behind classics like Rocket Man, Your Song and Candle in the Wind, said that he will continue with “little side projects”, reported GQ magazine online. He said that he has reached a stage where he does not want to do pop anymore but neither can he go over to the rock genre. The singer formed half of one of pop’s most successful partnerships with lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1967 and has sold more than 250 million records in a career spanning five decades.
“I’ve made 40-odd albums. People aren’t screaming for another Elton John record and I’m not screaming to make another record,” said the hitmaker.
