Santana ties the knot at 63

Guitar legend Carlos Santana secretly married his girlfriend in a beach side ceremony over the Christmas period. The 63-year-old musician wed drummer Cindy Blackman, 51, on December 19 in a ceremony which was witnessed by 180 guests including comedian George Lopez and musicians Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

The groom described the wedding as “supreme”, despite the fact that it began to rain on the morning of the ceremony, reported People magazine online.
“The weather was kind of iffy, so we said, ‘Let’s just do it inside. Because no matter where we did it, the sun was shining,” he told the magazine. Their lavish nuptials were held at the luxury Ritz Carlton resort on Maui island, Hawaii and the newly-weds embraced the unfortunate weather conditions and used them as part of the ceremony, carrying out a hand washing ritual using the rain water. “Rain represents mercy. It couldn’t have been more beautiful,” said Blackman. The couple also released white doves during the ceremony. —PTI
