Revised list released for S. Asian lit prize
The 14 Longlisted entries for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature prize were announced on Tuesday. However, following a clarification on the rules of eligibility regarding publication dates, the jury announced the revised longlist on Wednesday.
After the review of the entries, the jury adjudged that two novels previously discussed and endorsed were, under the rules, eligible for contention after due perusal.
The two entries that were added are Daniyal Mueenuddin’s In Other Rooms, Other Wonders (Bloomsbury) and Neel Mukherjee’s A Life Apart (Constable & Robinson).
The jury will deliberate on the Longlist and then go on to announce five selected works as the Shortlist at the DSC South Asian Literature Festival, scheduled to be held in UK at the end of October.
The winner of the first DSC Prize for South Asian Literature will be declared at the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival in January 2011.
