Reclusive nuns sign record deal

An order of Benedictine nuns, who live a reclusive life, has signed a major record deal with the label behind controversial singer Lady Gaga. Unlike Gaga’s outrageous stage performances and bizarre lifestyle, the nuns lead a cloistered life in a remote region of southern France.
They won a search of 20 convents across Europe, the US and Africa to find the world’s finest female singers of Gregorian Chant. The new chart hopefuls signed the recording contract with Decca Records boss Dickon Stainer from behind a wooden grill to avoid intrusion into their daily lives, the Daily Express reported.
Reverend Mother Abbess, of the Abbaye de Notre Dame de l’Annonciation said, “We never sought this, it came for us. At first we were worried it would affect our cloistered life, so we asked St. Joseph in prayer. Our prayers were answered, and we thought this album would be a good thing if it touches people’s lives and helps them find peace,” she said.
