Queen finds King’s Speech ‘moving’

Queen Elizabeth II is said to have had a private screening of The King’s Speech and has found the Oscar-nominated film quite “moving”.
The movie tells the story of the Queen’s father, King George VI, played by Colin Firth, who struggles to overcome a stutter with the help of an Australian speech therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The film also shows a young Princess Elizabeth, and screenwriter David Seidler said the Queen’s approval was the ultimate honour, reported BBC. “When the Queen Mother asked me 30 years ago to wait, because the memory of these events were still too painful, I understood the intense feelings that were involved,” he said. “And now that the film has been written and made with love, and respect, and admiration, the fact that Her Majesty has recognised this is incredibly and wonderfully gratifying,” Seidler added.
Weinstein Company, the studio behind the 12 Oscar-nominated movie said, “On behalf of the director Tom Hooper; the producers, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gareth Unwin; Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bo-nham Carter and our entire ensemble cast: we are dee-ply honoured and humbled by Her Majesty’s appreciation of the film.”

Victoria expecting baby girl
London: Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has been told that she is expecting a baby girl this time. The singer-turned-designer is “over the moon”, a family friend said.
The pregnant star, who is expecting her fourth child with soccer ace David Beckham, even wept tears of joy after her doctor said a hospital scan indicated that she was expecting a girl, thesun.co.uk said. “David and Victoria are over the moon. This will be their last child and to be told they are having a girl is the icing on the cake for the Beckham clan,” said a close family friend.
Victoria went for a scan in January, but doctors couldn’t determine the gender of the child then. However, after a 16-week ultrasound scan nearly a fortnight later, she was told that she was expecting a girl. —IANS

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
