‘Paltrow still looking for record deals’

Representatives of Gwyneth Paltrow has confirmed that the Oscar winning actress is still keen to launch her musical career and is on the look-out for a record deal, despite failed talks with Atlantic Records.
The 38-year-old actress, who wants to launch her debut album as a singer, was reportedly faced with hurdles when her deal with music label Atlantic was reportedly scrapped, reported Daily Star online.
The Shakespeare in Love star, who played the role of a washed-up singer in the film Country Strong, had earlier made appearance in TV musical Glee, besides giving live performance at the Oscars and the Grammys.
The reason for the snapped deal was a disagreement over money, where Paltrow had reportedly demanded a $1 million pay cheque.
However, Paltrow’s spokesperson is adamant the actress is still “considering” signing a deal.
“Atlantic was not the only company pursuing her, and she still has not decided if she wants to record an album... (it) is still something she is considering,” said the publicist.

Rabbi dropped from Coke studio event
Karachi: Indian sufi singer Rabbi Shergill’s much awaited performance on Coke studio, Pakistan’s most popular music event, has been cancelled due to a delayed visa.
The event has gained immense popularity in Pakistan and this year the organisers had invited Indian musicians to perform, with Bullah Ki Jana hitmaker Shergill on top of the list.
An official statement from the organisers said that his visa had been delayed and he will not be able to feature in this season.
“We invited the talented Rabbi Shergill to the Coke Studio platform but his visa got delayed,” said Rohail Hayatt, the producer of Coke Studio. “Although he managed to make it at the very last minute, we were not able to do justice to his music and the platform, given the timelines,” he said. —PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
