Muslim body to protest on royal wedding day
RADICAL ORGANISATION Muslims Against Crusades has decided to hold a protest on the day of royal wedding despite the Metropolitan police rejecting its formal application for protest near Westminster Abbey.
Far-right group English Defence League too had applied for permission to stage a counter protest against the Muslim group.
“It is a day of national celebration and we want that to be the mood for the day,” the Met police said, adding that it was holding talks with two groups who planned to hold protests on the day. The Met police cannot ban a stationary protest by any group unless the government imposes a ban.
The Muslims Against Crusades, led by controversial lawyer Anjem Choudary, told the SkyNews on Wednesday that the group would seek to hold a protest on the wedding day in a spot as close to the wedding procession as possible.
