Mexican singer killed,sang about cartels
Norteno singer Sergio Vega was shot dead in a northern state that has given rise to many of Mexico’s most notorious drug kingpins, joining a recent string of murdered musicians — some them famous for crooning about the cartel lifestyle.
Unknown assailants intercepted Vega’s red Cadillac on Saturday night near Los Mochis in Sinaloa state and riddled it with more than 30 bullets, authorities said. There were no arrests, and the police has not identified any suspects or a possible motive. Vega, 40, was a singer of “narcocorridos” — a subgenre that updates the folkloric “corrido” tradition of ballads about revolutionary heroes to tell the story of, and sometimes lionize, drug traffickers.
Elijah Wald, author of the book Narcocorrido, said on Monday that such singers often get caught up in the violent world they sing about.

Kim to get wax statue at Tussauds
London: American reality TV star Kim Kardashian who first grabbed headlines post an infamous sex tape scandal will now have her famous curves immortalised in a Madame Tussauds wax work figure.
Artists at the New York museum have taken hundreds of measurements of the 28-year-old and a mould of her face has already been created, reported the Daily Mail online. A team of artists took measurements of Kardashian’s figure, including her famous derriere, for the new Madame Tussauds wax work. “This is one of the greatest honours ever and I am so thrilled and excited. Now I will never have to leave NYC. I’ve officially gone bi-coastal!,” tweeted Kim. The figurine, with a red carpet hand-on-hip pose, will don a tight Herve Leger dress and peep toe heels. —PTI
