Lohan rejects plea deal, to stand on trial
Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan has rejected a plea deal and will now stand trial for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace. Lohan’s attorney Shawn Holley notified the prosecutor handling the case that Lohan would not be taking Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz’s plea offer, district attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison said.
The actress, 24, has pleaded not guilty to the charge and denied wrongdoing, reported TMZ. Schwartz never publicly detailed the terms of his offer to Lohan, but had said that if she pleaded no contest or guilty in the case, he would sentence her to jail. Prosecutors are also seeking jail time for the Mean Girls star, who was on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case when store officials told police that Lohan had taken a necklace without permission in January. Wednesday was the deadline for Lohan to notify Schwartz of her intentions and she will now be required to appear in court on April 22 for a preliminary hearing.

Goldberg smoked pot before Oscars
London: Actress Whoopi Goldberg says she smoked cannabis to calm her nerves before accepting the best supporting Oscar for her role in 1991 film Ghost.
The 55-year-old actress, known for her quirky personality, played Oda Mae Brown in the romantic movie starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, Contactmusic reported.
“I learned a great lesson though. Never smoke pot before there’s the possibility of having to talk to one hundred million people. Smoking cigarettes and pot every now and then are one thing that relaxes me and I thought, ‘I’ve got to relax.’
“So I smoked this joint that was the last of my home grown and honey, when he said my name and I popped up, I was like... Up the stairs one two three four five, onto the podium. There’s millions of people, OK grab the statue.’ I knew I should have never had done it.” —PTI
