Lifetime award for Herzog at Kerala film fest
German director Werner Herzog will be the star attraction of the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala which will start off here on December 10.
Mr Herzog is being honoured with a lifetime achievement award at IFFK-2010. The organisers are trumpeting his presence as evidence of the film festival becoming a big event and maybe even surpassing Iffi which is held in Goa every year.
Mr Herzog, an enigmatic and eccentric cineaste, has made a series of provocative films, the common strands of which have been a bleak humour and protagonists who are essentially outsiders.
Film buffs will also get to see a selection of his work including Signs of Life, Nosferatu the Vampire, The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser and the famous Aguirre, the Wrath of God, all of which have won awards in Cannes and Venice film festivals.
