Bollywood couple Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey has been blessed with a son, says Rahul Bose. The child was born on Tuesday.
Actor Rahul Bose announced it on his Twitter page saying: “Massive congratulations to Konkona and Ranvir. A boy it is. With those genes, the dynasty is secure.” Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi and actor Vivek Oberoi also congratulated the couple. The couple, who were seeing each other for three years, got married last year in a private ceremony at their Goregaon residence in Mumbai.

UK: Reggae star dies in police raid
London: British reggae star Smiley Culture has died during a police raid in southern England, media outlets reported on Tuesday, and the death is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The IPCC said in a statement that police went to a house in Warlingham, Surrey, to make an arrest and while they were there “it is believed a man suffered a stab wound and died at the scene.” —Reuters

Insulin-releasing molecular switch discovered
Washington: Scientists have discovered the molecular switch for the secretion of insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar, a finding they claim may soon pave the way for a better treatment for Type 2 diabetes.
A team at John Hopkins University claims that the finding solves a longtime mystery and would provide for the first time an explanation of the process of insulin secretion, the Cell Metabolism journal reported. “Our research cracks open a decades-long mystery,” said lead researcher Mehboob Hussain. —PTI
