JK first adult book: The Casual Vacancy
British author J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults, which was announced in February, will be published in September this year. It will be called The Casual Vacancy.
Her publisher Little, Brown Book Group announced on Thursday that the book, set in an English town, will be about the election to the local parish council of the fictional town of Pagford.
The publisher described the book as “blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising.”
The book, estimated to be about 500 pages long, will be published worldwide in English language in hardback and ebook formats, and in unabridged audio download and on CD on September 27 this year.
Rowling finished her seven-book Harry Potter series about adventures of a boy wizard in 2007.
The Edinburgh-based writer’s series of seven Harry Potter books were a worldwide publishing phenomenon.
The Potter books have sold over 450 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 74 languages. They also were turned into eight blockbuster films. Rowling has also written three small volumes, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through The Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
