I was date raped: Kara DioGuardi

Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi has revealed in her memoir that she was date raped by a well known producer 10 years ago.
The 40-year-old songwriter writes about her experience in the autobiography A Helluva High Note, where she reveals the music producer forced himself on her after a dinner out, reported People magazine online.
“Within a few hours, he was on top of me, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand,” DioGuardi writes about the incident, adding that she kept the rape a secret for fear it would ruin her career.
DioGuardi, who appeared as an American Idol judge on seasons eight and nine, also discusses her departure from the contest , explaining she left while trying to get pregnant via IVF treatment.
“I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV. I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during the ninth season,” she writes.

Now, ‘electronic nose’ to sniff out cancer
London: Now, an “electronic nose” which can sniff out cancer with a simple breath test, say scientists.
A team at Technion — Israel Institute of Technology has developed the electronic nose which is so sophisticated a device that it can sniff out malignant head and neck cancer tumours which are often hard to diagnose.
According to them, it picks up on microscopic chemical changes that are emitted in the breath of people with the two cancers, compared to those without the disease.
The Nano Artificial Nose has been tested on a small sample group but there are hopes it could one day be used as a routine test on the cancers, the Daily Express reported.
Patients develop tumours of the head, neck, salivary glands and mucus membranes. The nano nose was able to tell apart breath molecules from head and neck cancer patients and healthy people. It also distinguished between lung cancer patients and those free of the disease, and between head and neck cancer and lung cancer patients, say the scientists. —PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
