Film on Oprah’s biography by ’11
A biography of media mogul Oprah Winfrey is being adapted into a movie on her struggles and rise to stardom.
Filmmaker Larry A Thompson has acquired the rights to Kitty Kelley’s controversial book Oprah: A Biography but admits he faces a challenge in finding the right actress to play Winfrey, contactmusic reported.
“Oprah Winfrey’s fascinating journey from rural Mississippi to the world stage is packed with simple truths and complicated personalities. Casting someone to play Oprah will be the real challenge. We are planning to audition both known and unknown actresses,” Thompson said.
However, news of the project, to be released in 2011 won’t go down well with the talk show titan as she slammed the unauthorised tome in 2009, branding it a “so-called biography”. The book alleged that the 56-year-old personality used drugs and embellished stories about her poverty-stricken background.
