Fashion sizzles in land of sun, sand
IT WAS the perfect setting for a grand culmination. Sand, music, the setting sun and the beach, along with fire dancers, acrobats and DJ’s performing, the final day of the India Resort Fashion Week came to an end in style.
Designers Shantanu and Nikhil showcased their Pink Pop collection and ace designer Manish Malhotra brought the curtains down on the grand finale show with his first resort wear line.
Shantanu and Nikhil, renowned for their sexy yet under-stated silhouettes showcased a line of sensuous and luxurious resort wear. “S&N Drape, our bridge brand is a portrayal of the glamorous, edgy, exciting, young and sexy woman of today, who glories in her curves and her inherent refined style,” said Shantanu.
Actress Sushmita sen, strutted down the ramp as the show stopper for Shantanu and Nikhil, wearing a shocking blue gown and a long slit. “When shantanu and Nikhil are dressing me up, I don’t question them at all. They always make me wear something different. They will never give me black because I’m comfortable in that. Similarly for this show, they gave me a shocking blue,” said Sushmita.
The collection consisted of short airy dresses, halters, bikinis, blouse playsuits, one shoulder/sleeve dresses and gowns.
Then grand finale designer Manish Malhotra showcased his resort line with the Goan sunset and the serene ocean forming the backdrop. Unique from the other designer at IRFW the collection showcased had his own Indian twist. Trousers, jackets, sheer kurtas with bikini tops, cropped pants in ivory, fushia pink, amber, steel grey were spotted on the ramp. While the show did not have a celebrity show stopper, it did manage to leave a mark. Finally fireworks, and thumping music concluded the first India Resort Fashion Week.
“The show was beautiful and I’m very happy to bring out a resort wear line but with my signature style,” said Manish.
