Douglas nearly done with chemotherapy
Hollywood legend Michael Douglas is nearing the end of his throat cancer treatment after a gruelling eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation.
The 66-year-old actor has one more treatment left and after this week “no further treatments are scheduled,” said his longtime friend and publicist Allen Burry.
The Oscar-winning actor’s recovery is expected to take about another six weeks. Then he’ll have periodic check-ups, reported People magazine.
“He’s really happy about it ending,” Burry added.
Although the treatment can make it painful to swallow and as a result difficult to eat, Douglas “was determined not to have a feeding tube, and he didn’t have to have one,” said Burry.
Douglas also had enough energy to walk his 7-year-old daughter Carys to school and came out to promote Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, appearing at the New York premiere with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
