Cory filmed a video for fan before death
Tragic actor Cory Monteith recorded a touching message to a fan just weeks before his death, urging her to stay out of trouble and remain in school.
The 31-year-old Glee star was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada last Saturday. A coroner ruled he died from a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol, reported Huffington Post.
A video footage of Monteith has now emerged showing the star filming a heart-warming message to a fan during a flight to Japan last month. It is believed to be the last footage of the actor. After an air stewardess asked Monteith to record a clip for her boyfriend’s daughter Mallory, the smiling star says to the camera, “Hey Mallory, it’s Cory. I wanted to record this video for you guys just to let you know to stay out of trouble and stay in school.”
A group of Monteith’s closest friends gathered at his Los Angeles home to take part in a special memorial. His remains were cremated next week.
Cory Monteith’s father said they are still grappling with Glee star’s death due to an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol.
Joe told Entertainment Tonight Canada that it was Monteith’s mother who first discovered that her son had a drug problem. “I guess he was involved a little more in drugs than anybody knew at the time. His mother who was there with him all the time, she started picking up on it, you know stuff was missing, money here, stuff like that.”
Joe, who was estranged from his famous son until recently, said they could not believe the news when they first heard it.
“When they did break the news to my wife, she almost fell over, in fact, I had to grab her. And I had to ask them again what was that you said? It really didn’t sink in. It still really hasn’t,” said Joe, who divorced Cory’s mother, Ann McGregor, when Cory was 7.
Monteith’s body was cremated in Vancouver following a private viewing with his mother, brother Shaun, and girlfriend Lea Michele.
