Cheryl Cole gets $2 m to stay quiet
Popstar Cheryl Cole who is reportedly receiving $2 million for her brief stint on the US X-Factor, is getting the pay cheque on the condition that she remains tight-lipped about her experience. The singer, who was axed from the judging panel of the show after just four days, can take home her full pay if she maintains silence on the show and its creator Simon Cowell.
“Cheryl is going to be paid off if things go to plan. The last thing we need is someone with an axe to grind saying bad things about the show before it even starts. We hope a simple statement can be released next week and that will be the end of it. It’s is an incredible amount of money for four days’ work, but this is a multi-million dollar show with so much invested, it will be worth it. If she takes the money she is effectively agreeing to a gag,” said a source.
According to reports, Cole wants to be paid “out of principle” because she “moved her whole life to Los Angeles” on the back of the job.

Hugh Grant: Make assisted suicide legal
London: Actor Hugh Grant has put his weight behind a charity website which demands legalisation of assisted suicide. The 50-year-old star is a patron of Healthtalkonline.org, a charity and well being website founded by Dr Ann McPherson, reported the Independent.
McPherson died last week after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer and Grant paid tribute to the doctor by backing her calls to make the practice legal in the UK.
“She’s right on assisted dying. That seems to me like the dignified option. I don’t know quite what she wanted in her last few weeks, but she was a great champion of the right to die in a dignified manner, which it seems she did,” he said. “If you are around someone who you love, who says they want to die, you would look on that with sympathy. A person who is of sound mind should be allowed to die rather than be kept alive and in pain,” Grant added. —PTI
