Footballer David Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham were the most famous couple among the 1,900-odd guests at the royal wedding ceremony in Westminster Abbey.
David Beckham, dressed in a Ralph Lauren morning suit with his OBE pinned on his lapel, outshone his fashion designer wife and former pop star Victoria, who was wearing a dark blue dress from her AW11 collection with a hat by milliner Philip Treacy. The heavily-pregnant designer teamed her dress up with six-inch Christian Louboutin heels.
Pop singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish, friends of William’s mother Diana, were present at the ceremony and so was Prince Harry’s on-and-off girlfriend Chelsey Davy. Singer Joss Stone, filmmaker Guy Ritchie and actor Rowan Atkinson, Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe, Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas and former England footballer Trevor Brooking, socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson were also spotted at Westminster Abbey.
The royals from Europe, West Asia and the rest of the world made a huge contingent at the wedding. Spain’s Queen Sofia, crown prince Felipe and his wife Letizia attended the wedding and so did the Sultan of Brunei, the richest royal in the world. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Daniel, King Mswati III of Swaziland, King of Tonga, Queen of Denmark, Sheikh Ahmad Hmoud Al-Sabah of Kuwait, the King and Queen of Norway, Prince Mohamed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia were among the 45-odd foreign royals at the wedding.
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her New Zealand counterpart John Key were at the wedding too.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
