Buckingham Palace to hold Kate’s wedding dress exhibit
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress will be on display at the Buckingham Palace from Saturday during the two-and-a-half-month-summer opening of the British monarch’s London residence.
The Buckingham Palace state rooms are open for a little over two months in summer when Queen Elizabeth II moves to Balmoral in Scotland for a personal break. The opulent state rooms, decorated with in gold, are full of paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, Van Dyck, Poussin and Canaletto. The dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen will be on display at the ballroom throughout the annual summer opening from July 23 to October 3.
The wedding dress worn by the Duchess of Cambridge on April 29 at her wedding with Prince William will be on display alongside her wedding shoes, earrings and her tiara. The wedding shoes were hand-made by the team at Alexander McQueen.
The Cartier Halo tiara was lent to Kate by the queen on her wedding day and the diamond earrings were commissioned by the Middleton family as a personal gift to Kate from her parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
