Brother assaulted Potter star
The brother of an actress who appeared in the Harry Potter movies has pleaded guilty to assaulting her, allegedly after she met a man who was not a Muslim.
The 22-year-old Afshan Azad plays Padma Patil, a classmate of the teenage wizard, in the movie series.
Prosecutor Richard Vardon told the Manchester crown court that Azad’s elder brother, 28-year-old Ashraf, assaulted her apparently over her association with a Hindu man. She fled her home after her brother and father threatened to kill her, Vardon said.
Ashraf Azad pleaded guilty for assault and was granted bailed on the condition he does not contact his sister.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 21. A judge ruled both men were not guilty of threatening to kill the actress.

Dan writing screenplay of Lost Symbol
Los Angeles: Author Dan Brown is turning screenplay writer for the movie adaptation of his latest book, The Lost Symbol, which continues symbologist Robert Langdon’s adventure.
The best-selling author of Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons is rewriting the screenplay based on his book for Columbia, which is developing the film version of the recent novel, the Hollywood Reporter said.
Published in 2009, the book is about how Langdon gets mixed up with the Freemasons in Washington DC.
Brown’s other two books in the Langdon series have already been adapted on the big screen with Oscar-winner Tom Hanks in the lead role.
But Hanks’ name is yet to be attached to the Lost Symbol. Director Ron Howard, who helmed the previous two movies, is also not confirmed for the third film.
