Blue dress from Wizard of Oz to be auctioned
The blue and white outfit famously donned by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the 1939 film Wizard of Oz is being put on the auction block by a New York couple.
The husband purchased the gingham dress for his wife in 1981 for some $2,000, and now Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills expects to sell it November 9 for at least half a million dollars, the auction house said on Monday, reported New York Daily News.
“When we picked it up from their house in New York, there were some tears. It was quite an emotional experience for them,” company founder Darren Julien said.
“They’ve lived with it in their residencefor the last 30 years, and when they realised how much it’s worth currently, it became a concern.”

Curiosity finds ‘bright object’ in mars red soil
Washington: Nasa’s Curiosity rover has uncovered a “bright object” in the red soil of Mars that might be a part of the robotic explorer that broke off, the US space agency said.
“The rover team decided to refrain from using the rover’s robotic arm on October 8 due to the detection of a bright object on the ground that might be a piece from the rover,” Nasa said on Monday in a statement.
“Curiosity is acquiring additional imaging of the object to aid the team in identifying the object and assessing possible impact, if any, to sampling activities.”
The rover had parked at a sand pit late last week, where it was to scoop up soil in order to clean and test its geological sampling hardware.
