Beatles guitar fetches $4,08K at auction
An electric guitar played by Beatle legends John Lennon and George Harrison has been sold for $4,08,000 at an auction.
The instrument was custom-built for Lennon in 1966. It was sold to an American buyer at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. The sale was organised by the Beverly Hills-based firm Julien’s Auctions.
The guitar manufactured by VOX company, was used by the late rockers at the height of their popularity. Harrison played the guitar as he rehearsed for his 1967 song I Am The Walrus. While Lennon played it during a video session for Hello, Goodbye.
Lennon later handed over the guitar to his friend and electronics engineer Yanni ‘Magic Alex’ Mardas as a gift in 1967.

‘Alcoholics who smoke risk FAST BRAIN AGEING’
Washington: Alcoholics who smoke develop more problems with memory, ability to think quickly and efficiently, and problem-solving skills than those who don’t smoke, a first-of-its-kind study has found.
The study looked at the interactive effects of smoking status and age on neurocognition in treatment-seeking alcohol dependent (AD) individuals.
“Several factors — nutrition, exercise, comorbid medical conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, psychiatric conditions such as depressive disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder, and genetic predispositions may also influence cognitive functioning during early abstinence,” said Timothy C Durazzo, corresponding author for the study.
“This study provides evidence of greater cognitive difficulties in alcoholics who also smoke, which could offer important insights,” Durazzo added.
