Autopsy tools used on Elvis up for sale
Taking the craze for Elvis Presley memorabilia to a new level, the autopsy tools used on “The King’s” dead body will go under the hammer ahead of the icon’s 33rd death anniversary.
The instruments and assorted paraphernalia from the Memphis funeral home where Presley’s dead body was autopsied will be auctioned on August 12 by Chicago’s Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, reported BBC online.
On offer are rubber gloves, forceps, lip brushes, a comb and eye liner, needle injectors, an arterial tube and aneurysm hooks, which were all used only once, specifically for “The King”, Elvis Presley.
“There is also a preparation room case report, the case sheet, dry cleaning tags, the hanger to the singer’s suit and tie and the coffin shipping invoice, which are marked ‘Elvis Presley,’” said a spokesperson for the auction house.
Presley’s toe-tag will also be auctioned, labelled “John Doe” because his real one was purloined by a fan at the hospital where he was taken following heart problems in August 1977.
The toe-tag is expected to fetch upto $5,000 while the other items are expected to fetch up $8,000 each.
