Al Pacino owes $188,000 taxes?
Hollywood veteran Al Pacino reportedly owes $188,000 in back taxes and has been slapped with a bill by the Internal Revenue Service.
The documents filed against the Oscar-winning actor state that he underpaid taxes by $169,143 in 2008 and $19,140 in 2009, reported TMZ. Pacino, whose movies have grossed over $1 billion during a career spanning over 40 years, has blamed his notorious former business manager Kenneth Starr for the oversight.
Starr was arrested in May 2010 for running a fraudulent investment scheme, cheating celebrities, including Uma Thurman and Martin Scorsese to fund a lavish lifestyle. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison earlier in 2011.
The Godfather star now has a new management team and is working to get the taxes paid. The 70-year-old’s career is still flourishing and he is set to play Henri Matisse in an upcoming film, titled Masterpiece about the French artist and his relationship with his nurse and model Monique Bourgeois. The actor is also set to play controversial record producer Phil Spector in an untitled HBO movie from writer-director David Mamet.
