Imports of DVD may attract duty
INDIA IS likely to impose anti-dumping duty of up to $50.51 per 1,000 pieces on cheap imports of DVDs from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam to protect the domestic industry. The Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), a nodal investigation agency under the commerce ministry, has concluded in its findings that ‘Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs) Recordable’ is exported by the three countries to India below its normal value, an official said. DGAD has also said that the “domestic industry has been affected due to the imports from (these) countries,” the commerce ministry official said.
