Gati sets up firm for shipping biz

Leading logistics services provider Gati Ltd on Wednesday announced the demerger of its shipping division into a wholly owned subsidiary, GatiShips, with effect from July 1, 2010. “Shipping is more cyclical and needs a different kind of strategy for its sustained growth. We have not been able to give it the much-needed attention and investments... Now the the new company will chalk out its own growth plans,” Gati Ltd managing director and CEO, Mr Mahendra Agarwal, said.
