Amara Raja Group plans FMCG foray
Amara Raja Group plans to make a foray into the health drink and frozen foods category as part of its vision of becoming a pan-India FMCG player. The group, better known for automotive battery brand Amaron, currently has an export-oriented fruits and vegetables division under the brand name, Galla Foods.
According to industry sources, the Rs 2,000 crore group is seriously considering making Galla Foods, which has a sales revenue of Rs 46 crore, a major player in the domestic beverages segment. The company is at present working on developing its health drinks and samples are being tested in its
laboratory.
